SAN DIEGO, CA – May 23, 2011 – This year's ACORD LOMA Insurance Systems Forum proved to be a success with attendees. Sessions were well attended and the exhibit hall active. This year's attendance numbers were on a par with those from 2010. The breakdown of attendees reflected changes in the industry.
"We're seeing interesting dynamics and changes in the industry today and many of those are reflected in ACORD LOMA Forum attendees. These variables, such as the drive to bring younger people into the industry and corporate restructuring, will undoubtedly continue over the next several years. That's why we're evolving the Forum annually to meet the changing appetites within the industry," said Tanya Krochta, Vice President & Chief Administrative Officer, ACORD.
One demographic group that was unexpectedly high this year was first-time attendees. "New blood is being pumped into the industry and they are coming to events to learn more, meet solution providers, and network with other new industry members as well as with seasoned professionals. We're also seeing an emphasis on education and these people are seeking out sources like the Forum to give them the foundation they need," said Jeff Hasty, Senior Vice President, LOMA.
Another area of growth was in Technology Executives. This year saw an increase in C-Level and Senior Vice President level attendees. "This is the second year of our CIO Forum and we've definitely seen an uptick in executive involvement at ACORD LOMA," added Krochta.
Geographical changes also appeared in 2011. Significant increases were seen in the number of attendees from Australia, Canada, India, and the UK.
Sponsorship also saw increases in 2011. This year, the Forum had more sponsors at higher levels with greater investments in the event as well as more media sponsors. "Solution providers see the value of the Forum and the breadth and depth of its reach. That's why they increasingly show their support by attending and investing money in sponsoring the event," Hasty said. Platinum level sponsors this year included: Cognizant, Hewlett Packard, IBM, Insurance Networking News, Microsoft, Oracle America, Inc., Tata Consultancy Services, and Tech Decisions/P&C 360.
Exhibitor investment increased with many upsizing their booths and planning additional activities time to coincide with the Forum.
"Overall, this was another wonderful year for the Forum. Each year, we work hard to provide the best quality event for the industry and we accomplished that once again. Now, it's on to 2012 in Orlando, Florida," concluded Krochta.
